U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Rochester Hills, will be hosting her first townhall as a member of Congress on Sunday in Plymouth.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. inside the Plymouth Cultural Center, 525 Farmer Street. Anyone is welcome to attend the free event.

Stevens, 35, who represents Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, will issue some opening remarks, provide a legislative update, and answer questions from the public in addition to focusing on topics such as the government shutdown and others of importance to her constituents.

Press Secretary Blake McCarren said although ID’s will not be checked prior to admission, residents of the 11th District are being encouraged to attend the informative event.

Stevens was sworn-in as a member of the 116th Congress on Jan., 3, in Washington D.C. She is one of four U.S. representatives with district territory in Oakland County.
