In Newly Open Seat, Momentum Grows Behind Haley Stevens with Teamsters Endorsement

Massive Filing Reflects the Strong Show of Support

BIRMINGHAM, Michigan– Today, Haley Stevens, chief of staff of the Auto Rescue and digital manufacturing executive, announced that she has raised over $200,000 in the third fundraising quarter. Stevens has now raised over $500,000 and has more than $410k on hand, more than any other Democratic candidate in Michigan.

In response to this strong filing, Haley Stevens said, “Congress needs to start working for Michigan, and I am so honored by the outstanding support of my candidacy. We’re fighting to represent the people, not special interests. Our campaign is off to such a great start because Michiganders are tired of Republican efforts to increase taxes on the middle class, cut health care, and shut down the government. I am so incredibly thankful for everyone who has joined this campaign. I look forward to spending the next year meeting with our neighbors and businesses throughout the community, and discussing why it’s so important that we send a new voice for Michigan’s 11th District down to Washington.”

Michigan’s 11th Congressional District became an open seat after Rep. Dave Trott announced he will not seek re-election in September. Haley Stevens already has an impressive edge against other contenders in the race, and was recently endorsed by the Teamsters — the only major endorsement so far in the race.

Haley Stevens has dedicated her career to saving and growing good-paying jobs in Michigan. During the Great Recession, Haley served as Chief of Staff on the Auto Task Force inside of the U.S. Treasury Department. Most recently she led a national workforce development program and created the country’s first online training program for digital manufacturing, which is already changing lives. She has led innovation programs across the country, helping small and medium sized manufacturers grow. Haley was born and raised in the 11th District, and is a graduate of Seaholm High School.
